hooray?
Anyway, today we had to take Zam back to the vet for a follow up after the last trip when he was sick. The vet told us that there had been a recent rash of puppies with diarrhea (bloody, even), and they even lost one of them. And I suddenly felt absolutely horrible- losing Puck was devestating enough and he was ten years old. If something happened to Zam this early, well, I'd probably never be able to even look at a dog for the rest of my life. I'm so grateful it was nothing serious.
One thing that was interesting was when the vet started asking us about how big Zam's parents were and how fast he was growing. The parents were pretty average-sized for golden retrievers- about 75 pounds. We HAD noticed that Zam's been growing like a weed (he's already twice the size he was when we got him), but we didn't think much of it since puppies grow fast and he was going to get pretty big. However the vet told us that judging from his growth right now, he might end up being REALLY huge- like 90+ pounds. Now, Puck weighed 90 pounds for about a year because he was overweight, and even at his normal weight he was a moose. So Zam might end up being a real monster. Of course he'll still be a doofus no matter how big he gets. :)
