So I've decided to get a new computer! As far as games go I've just stuck to using the absolute lowest graphics settings for things, but pretty much it hit me how painfully obsolete my computer is when I finished the latest Sam & Max episode. I didn't realize it then but when I rewatched the ending on Youtube and saw it running at the highest performance it looked so much BETTER. And Telltale makes games for the Wii. My computer is weaker than a Wii. :\

And speaking of Youtube, I can't watch videos at higher HD settings because it just lags too much. It also feels like it's gotten slower since I upgraded Microsoft Office and my spyware scanner to newer versions.

I think I want to get another laptop, mainly because I haven't moved out yet (sigh), and even if I do get moved out I might not be in a place for more than a year or two. So I'll save getting a desktop for when I have a better job and a permanent place to live. And if I do get a new computer I'm going to make sure it'll last me a few years before I have to upgrade again. ...of course that means it'll be expensive. But if I can sell my current one and get SOMETHING for it, I could put the rest of it on my credit card, since I never use it for much beyond gas anyway.

Things I want:
-Top of the line everything of course. It has to last a while.
-Huge hard drive. Right now I have 50GB, which seemed like a lot four years ago (especially considering the computer it replaced had 10GB), but now I use my external HD for nearly everything except for basic stuff when it was originally just for storage. How big do laptop hard drives go?
-A sound card that lets me record stereo sound and mic input at the same time. For some reason mine absolutely will not do that and it makes no sense. I want to do a Let's Play someday man. :\ Plus I see no reason not to get a sound card that does everything, ya know?
-NOT Windows 7 *clings to XP forever*

Of course I don't actually know anything about buying computers so I don't even know where to start. Hurr.

http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/?tag=TOCleftColumn.0 is always a good place to start. or end.

i would highly recommend a sony vaio. and windows 7 really isn't as bad as you might think. it takes a little getting used to, but it's actually really quite nice. and will run a lot faster than XP.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/ is also pretty helpful when it comes to reviewing graphics cards, sound card, processors and the like.

i hope that helped.

Cling to XP all you want, but 7 is a solid platform.
