I'll just be playing MOTHER 3 now...

Yeah, so remember how I said I wasn't going to play MOTHER 3 until there was an English version available? I'm not doing that anymore. First, some background info:

The new website for starmen.net's unofficial MOTHER 3 translation, that came about when the one I've been waiting for merged with them.

Smashbros.com, the website for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which is updated every weekday with a random tidbit of new info (such as a new character or item or whatever).

So yesterday smashbros.com updated with the very first piece of info about the MOTHER/EarthBound series to be revealed. There was much rejoicing until I read the MOTHER 3 site's newest update:

There’s also a little bit more info we’ve caught wind of. Can’t reveal it here (and definitely wouldn’t want to…), but it basically equates to the fact that Smash Bros. Brawl is going to ABSOLUTELY, UNQUESTIONABLY spoil MOTHER 3 for EB fans who haven’t played the game yet :(

but because the folks working on the translation are awesome, they're attempting to get it all done before Brawl is released in December. Sounds awesome, right? Not necessarily:

Of course, there are going to be many more updates to the Smash Bros. site in the next four months. And there will undoubtedly be more info about MOTHER 3 stuff in the game. And it’s possible that this info could wind up being huge spoilers for MOTHER 3. So if you value your sanity/playing experience, I recommend you exercise caution around Smash Bros. info from here on out.

Aaaand it's entirely possible because the stuff in the updates on smashbros.com are almost completely random, so it's very likely that they'll post gigantic spoilers at any time. aaaaauuughh this is not faaaaair I wait over a year to play this in English and then this happens. DX

So I'm just going to have to struggle through with a translation guide as much as I don't wanna. D:
