adventures at the dog kennel
Jul. 14th, 2005 03:04 pmOkay so during the day people who have appointments drop off their dogs and they get brought back to the grooming room to wait in some of the cages, right? Anyway I had about five appointment dogs today, one of which was a bulldog. Aroud 10 or so one of the runners (people who bring dogs to and from the lobby) brings a bulldog back for her appointment and I'm like "oh hey, that must be mine". And then I get a good look at her- she's almost completely hairless and she was black and white but her white skin was bright pink (looked like sunburn). Even worse was that she was COVERED in pockmarks and scabs. The runner turns to me and says,
"Oh by the way, she has mange."
And I'm like, "...O_O"
Yeah, so they wanted the most inexperienced person there that day to bathe a dog with mange. Fortunately by that point it wasn't contagious (a dog kennel would never take a dog with a contagious ailment like that) but it still wasn't a very pleasant experience, mostly because I was worried that I would end up doing something that would irritate her skin even MORE. The poor thing was only a puppy, too- 11 months- and she just barked like crazy the entire time.
When I got home I made my brother put Zam downstairs while I took a very long shower. Eee.
