*shuffles in*
Jun. 17th, 2004 10:46 pm*pokes the microphone* is this thing o-*FEEDBACK* OOOWWW. okay it is.
Okay, so I finally caved and got a livejournal. I figure I'm not on AIM nearly enough so I might as well so I can pester and be pestered by everyone when we're not all in the same vicinity.
So, what have I been doing since school ended? not much. Pretty much the same thing I did last summer- worked 9-5 then came home and played video games.
I'm working at the same place I was at last year- a real estate lawfirm-y place (and I STILL have no idea what they do exactly) doing everything that everyone else there has no time for. I like it mostly because there's no annoying customers to deal with. :D
Finally got around to reading Neverwhere because I'm a lazy mindless slacker that doesn't read enough.
Been replaying Super Mario Sunshine. Yay Mario! And Escape from Monkey Island. Yay Guybrush!
Brother and cousin's graduation's went mostly well last week. First we all piled into the van and went to Pittsburgh where we had a party for the cousin. Aunt rented a house at the park, and even though it rained we still had a good time. Unfortunately it continued raining on graduation morning, which meant most of us couldn't go to the actual ceremony- it usually takes place outside on the football field, and in case of rain it gets relocated to the much smaller auditorium where there's no room.
One thing that was slightly depressing was seeing my aunt/uncle/cousin's dog Penny (read: neurotic food-obsessed dalmation) again. Penny and Puck had this hillarious love/hate relationship, and when we first got to Pittsburgh, Penny was running all over the house looking for Puck because we always bring him with us. :(
The day after the cousin graduated we drove back here for my brother's. It was at VCU (so was mine), which is where he's attending college, so I guess that was pretty neat. My dad and my brother's best friend made a point to yell his name and cheer as loud as possible when it was his turn to recieve his diploma.
A week later came the party and the rest of the relatives and a lot of beer and fried chicken. We lucked out and got a beautiful day, and I got to play darts again. I miss playing darts. :) My brother absolutely loved the presents I got him- a Metroid t-shirt, the NES Metroid cartridge, Metroid II, and the soundtrack to Metroid Prime and Fusion. Yeah he's kind of a fanboy.
Mom's oven exploded (literally) two days before the party. The heating element just kind of went "BZZT!", and when my dad tried to fix it, it only fried again. So they ran out and got a brand new one that has those burners that are under the glass and stuff. It's neat. Only problem is it prolongs the getting of the new puppy since we're slightly money tight (two kids in college= paycheck go down the hoooole).
Speaking of which, now that we have the whole graduation thing out of the way I'm bugging my parents incessantly for the puppy. Seriously, we NEED a dog in this house. We're talking to our fish for crying out loud (granted, the fish ARE amusing, but still). That and I've finally gotten to the point where I can talk about Puck and look at pictures of him without immediately bursting into tears.
This time we're planning on getting another golden retriever, only this one will be a yellow (Puck was a red golden, and easily mistaken for an Irish setter), and his name will be Zam, short for Mr. Zam B. Oni. :)
I've been putting off reformatting my computer (I've named it Special Ed), even though it REALLY needs it, but I'm just too lazy to back up the obscene amount of CRAP I've collected during the last year and a half. My dad took it apart and cleaned a lot of dust out of it, which helped it run a little better. Now I can actually run stuff from the CD-ROM without the stupid thing completely dying on me. I still need a new battery, though.
And I just got back from seeing Van Helsing earlier this evening. Yay for over-the-top monster movies! Frankenstein's monster is so awesome.
So... that's pretty much my summer thus far.
ps- guess where my username and stuff came from and win a cookie*.
*disclaimer- you will not actually win a cookie.
