this entry is disjointed

Oh man it's been forever since I did a proper update. December just sucks up all of my time like that.

THERE WAS SNOW. LIKE CRAZY. I lucked out because I managed to get aaaalll of my Christmas shopping done hours before it started. I got up Saturday morning to get ready for work and gave up on that five minutes later when I looked out the window and could barely see my car. Fortunately ECPI was closed that day. \o/ So I spent the weekend cleaning, baking sugar cookies and playing video games.

Christmas! I had to work on Wednesday so I got home just in time to say hi to family members before everybody went to bed. XD There was also a holiday luncheon/gift exchange thing at work, which was fun and I got a Starbucks giftcard out of it (hooray for hot chocolate!).

Christmas Eve and Christmas I mostly goofed around a lot and played video games. Thursday night I went over to my friend's house and we roasted marshmallows and exchanged presented and ate nachos with cheese. A successful evening if there ever was one!

WHAT DID I GET FOR CHRISTMAS. Hmm let's see. I got a panini grill and a cookbook! \o/ I also got some other kitchen stuff, like mixing spoons, an electric can opener, and a cookie maker thing that squeezes the dough into shapes that I can't wait to use. Aside from kitchen stuff, I also got Zelda: Spirit Tracks just in time for me to lose my stylus (*shakefist*), the I Can Has Cheezburger book, Carbon Leaf's newest album, another Bone artbook and the prequel to Bone, Rose. I got some giftcards for Pier 1 Imports and I think I might save them up for a papasan chair.

Saturday my mom, aunt, grandmother and I went ~antiquing~ which is a lot of fun shut up. We also went to the COOLEST STORE EVER called Home Goods. It has tons of kitchen/bath/home decorating stuff for dirt cheap. I got some rugs for my room and a set of measuring cups. Man I am so excited as soon as we get the apartment sorted out I get to go back and pick out glasses and dinnerware and stuff. \o/

We had three dogs at the house at one point- Zam, my grandparents' cairn terrier Buddy, and my cousin's roommate's dauschund Johnson. Johnson is a year old and terrorized Zam and Buddy most of the time. He also likes to snuggle into blankets and I woke up with him next to me on the air mattress Saturday morning. I also had to share it with Buddy several times, because he decided he liked it better than his bed.

There aren't any classes this week so I've been working during the day. Today the daytime librarian and I cleaned the library top to bottom. Oh god the keyboards and the table for the computers the students use were SO GROSS. And the chessboard was all gunked up too! I'm going to try and retake the certification test for the other testing company tomorrow. We went through all the procedures today and I even checked in a few people for the tests so hopefully I'm better prepared.

Sometime this week I'm going to see Avatar with dad and then on Saturday I'm going with my cousin to see the Princess and the Frog. I AM SO EXCITED.

Steam's Holiday sale started and of course I have no willpower and now have a large backlog of games to play. I got Portal! Finally! \o/ I also got this little indie game I had never even heard of before called Aquaria. It's very Metroid-ish, and I had trouble getting a hang of it until I figured out how the map works. It's really fun and extremely pretty, too.

I'm really struggling in Mirror's Edge. I cannot play it without a walkthrough, and I'm dreading this one part that's coming up that involved riding the back of a subway train and then outrunning one. Aaaaa. D: Of course I need to actually get there first and stop falling off of buildings and getting shot in the face, derp. Speaking of which, the game has no visible health bar, and you only die if you take tons of damage in a short period of time, otherwise your vision gets blurry but then goes back to normal when you recover... a few seconds later. So basically Faith can get shot in the face a bunch but as long as she runs away before she gets shot TOO MUCH she's fine. lol what is reality.

I DID beat Machinarium recently. It was very cute! I just wish it was a little longer, and that one of the final puzzles was more of a puzzle and less of an exercise in frustration. It turned into a SHOOTER for five minutes. A really bad one, too. wtf.

I finished reading Declare, and I'm still not entirely sure what happened but it was kind of cool anyway. And just to show how much of a history derp I am, I didn't even realize that Kim Philby, the book's antagonist, is a real historical figure. lol. In the book he talks with a pronounced stutter, and I kept reading all of his dialogue in the G-Man's voice. Anyway I think I should do some research to see if he was as slightly terrifying in real life as he was in the book.

I need to get started on Demon of the Air, but I also found my copy of A Scanner Darkly finally. Hmm what to read first. Maybe I'll read them both at the same time!

Haven't had much time to draw lately. Hopefully that will change when the holidays are over.
